What is Henley Royal Regatta?
The Henley Royal Regatta is one of the quintessential events in rowing. It takes place annually with over 300 races which include some of the world’s best crews. Across the week, the competition is strong and races range from amateur to elite with Olympic level athletes taking part. The Regatta also includes a wide range of luxury shopping, dining and other hospitality and entertainment.
Where is Henley Royal Regatta?
The regatta takes place on the River Thames, near to the town of Henley in Oxfordshire and is easily accessed by helicopter from London.
What is the History of Henley Royal Regatta?
The Henley Royal Regatta first took place in March 1839 and has a long and rich history. Originally, the regatta was designed for amateur crews and rowers to enter but by 1884, the regatta had grown to include professionals and prize money. The modern regatta is completely open with male and female crews from across the world competing across the course of the week.
Is there a dress code at The Henley Royal Regatta?
Whilst there is no official dress code, the organisers ask that attendees “dress to the occasion” and denim, shorts, and sports clothing are not permitted.
